There is a new version of Sales Cloud to be released. As the previous version was Release 13, you might expect to start hearing about Release 14, but you will not find much information on it. The next Sales Cloud version will be Release 18. Let me explain the Sales Cloud release strategy changes.
By the way, i was actually expecting this to happen earlier. Who would want a Release 13 right ???
Sales Cloud Release Strategy
For as long as I can remember, Sales Cloud had 2 new big releases every year. This is about to change. Sales Cloud will see 4 smaller quarterly releases per year.
From now on, Sales Cloud releases will get a version number as a concatenating of the following:
- a version number related to the year the release was launched
- a character A, B, C or D indicating the quarterly release within a given year
This means that Sales Cloud will jump from Release 13 to Release 18A. The last updates to Release 13 were actually already following this nomenclature and hence you might see references to 17C and 17D.
The Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences
Just as a fun fact, there are actually other examples of series where the sequence jumps from 13 to 17, skipping 14, 15 and 16.
There is even an online encyclopedia of integer sequences, surprisingly called the ‘The Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences‘. It contains an enormous collection of integer sequences and after browsing around a bit, I found a few examples examples:
- Belgian 0 numbers although 19 is missing here, not sure what that means for next year, but hey, it has to do with Belgium !!
- Numbers without 3 consecutive equal binary digits, the only series where I can imagine what this is about
- Semisimple numbers: positive integers having exactly one reduced phi-partition, the geek in me would secretly want to know what this means
- Numbers having an up-first zigzag pattern in base 7, ……… zigzag 🙂 !!!
Is it not just amazing what you can find on the internet?
