Once in a while, I run into a feature that has been in Engagement Cloud since for ever, but I was unaware of. This time I learned we can add an instance banner across every screen in Engagement Cloud. Most likely, this is not the best way to inform users of an organizational change or to share the location of the next team dinner. I actually cannot think of many use cases where such a banner would be the most optimal way to share a message with … except for one:
This is a great way to make sure users are made aware they are working on test environment and not on the production environment, or vise versa.
Instance Banner Setup
Setting up a banner is as easy as adding the banner message to a profile values. Let me walk you through the steps:
- Navigate to ‘Setup & Maintenance’
- Open the ‘Manage Administrator Profile Values‘ task
- Search for the ‘Banner Message’ profile option
- Add a site level profile value containing the message
It is as simple as that !
